Bayer Donates $50,000 to Non-Profits on Behalf of Canola Farmers

Canola Farmers Nominate Local Organizations for the InVigor More for Everyone Program

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., July 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2017 More For Everyone program, made possible by Bayer's InVigor® canola hybrids, will help rebuild a school damaged by fire, assist with multiple backpack lunch programs, provide two new AED's to a non-profit located 60 miles from the nearest hospital, help purchase new fire equipment for a local fire department, provide a handicap lift for clients at a therapeudic horse riding program and assist with numerous other non-profit endeavours important to U.S. InVigor canola farmers.

Since the program's inception in 2010, farmers planting InVigor canola have had the opportunity to nominate community non-profit organizations for the annual More for Everyone awards. This year, 195 growers nominated 115 local non-profits, 10 of which won a portion of the $50,000 donation.

"The More for Everyone program is incredibly rewarding to be a part of," says Kayla Brugman, U.S. canola campaign manager for Bayer. "Not only do we see what matters most to our canola farmers, we also become part of helping them support these causes by carrying over the success of InVigor canola into local communities."

Each year, InVigor canola farmers nominate non-profit organizations in their community and a committee of three independent judges considers the organizations' needs and how the donation could benefit the community. The following non-profit organizations were selected to receive this year's More for Everyone awards:

$7,500 Awards

Cando Food Pantry in Cando, N.D. to assist with the county food pantry, school backpack and senior supplement programs.
Dickinson Trinity Catholic Schools in Dickinson, N.D. to help rebuild a school severely damaged by a fire in 2014.
Home on the Range in Sentinel Butte, N.D. to supply two AED's with alarm cases, needed due to the nearest hospital being 60 miles away and long ambulance response times.
Hope and Healing Therapeutic Riding in Bowman, N.D. to purchase a medical handicap lift enabling clients with accessibility needs to partake in the riding program.
Rolla Community Daycare in Rolla, N.D. to update existing 30-year-old playground equipment, improving safety for users.

$2,500 Awards

Bishop Ryan Catholic School Science Department in Minot, N.D. to purchase Texas Instrument Inspire calculators with a navigator system enabling research on plant growth and photosynthesis.
Dickinson Backpack Program in Dickinson, N.D. to support 280 children who receive backpacks filled with food for weekend meals.
Cando Backpack Program in Cando, N.D. to support the backpack program for students that are in need of healthy, weekend meals.
Max Public School in Max, N.D. to build a greenhouse for the FFA-Vo Ag program, science and elementary classes.
Rolla Fire Department in Rolla, N.D. to assist in purchasing a new fire truck and dependable fire-fighting equipment for the volunteer fire department, covering three counties.

This year's judges were LoAnye Voight, Renville County Extension Agent at North Dakota State University; Jenna Kyllo, President of ND Agri Women; and Terry Loomis, General Manager and Farm Director at KQLX.

The yearly amount awarded depends on the volume of InVigor seed farmers reserve with Bayer for the upcoming season. Since 2010, the first year of the More for Everyone program, Bayer has donated a cumulative total of $295,000 to non-profit organizations selected by farmers.
