Bayer CropScience Announces National Availability of Credenz® Soybean Seed
Expanded availability gives more growers access to Credenz smart genetics across all maturity groups
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Sept. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/-- For the 2016 growing season, Bayer CropScience is expanding the Credenz® soybean seed brand nationally, with offerings in most of the U.S. soybean production regions, providing growers more choices for complete weed management and competitive yield performance. Credenz offers LibertyLink® and glyphosate-tolerant traits in more than 55 high-performing varieties suited to local growing conditions and tailored to address growers' individual needs, now in expanded maturity groups 0 through 7.
Piloted last year, Credenz is the first global soybean seed brand from Bayer CropScience. This next-generation soybean offers integrated smart genetics, traits and varieties to deliver new choices for complete weed management and competitive yield performance. Credenz soybeans are bred to thrive in diverse field types and are available with the LibertyLink® trait, which combines high-performing genetics with the power of Liberty® herbicide for excellent control of even the toughest to control weeds. The seed also features packages with defensive traits for tolerance to frogeye leaf spot, Sudden Death Syndrome, southern stem canker, Phytophthora root rot, southern root-knot nematode, iron chlorosis, chloride sensitivity, Sclerotinia white mold, brown stem rot and soybean cyst nematode.
"Credenz is now available for soybean growers on a national scale, with characteristics to perform in a variety of soil types and relative maturities, offering growers a customizable platform tailored to meet a wide range of individual production preferences," said Allen Gent, Director, U.S. Soybean Seed Operations, Bayer CropScience. "Coupled with a robust portfolio of crop protection and SeedGrowth products from Bayer, Credenz can help growers maximize today's high-performance soybean yield potential."
Credenz is backed by scientific expertise, a full portfolio of soybean solutions, and a pipeline of innovations from Bayer CropScience to support soybean growers now and in the future. The company is currently working on research projects in seed breeding, traits and crop protection to help growers better address issues including weeds, nematodes, pests, diseases and overall crop efficiency. As part of that mission, Bayer CropScience is working with partners to deliver the best biotechnologies science has to offer, including several new soybean traits over the next five years and beyond. Two herbicide-tolerant traits coming soon are Balance® GT*, which provides tolerance to glyphosate and Balance® Bean** herbicide, and Balance GT/LibertyLink, which provides tolerance to glyphosate, Balance Bean and Liberty herbicide. All together, these ongoing innovations allow Bayer to deliver the best seed with the right characteristics and superior protection to meet growers' needs for healthy, high-performing soybeans.
While Credenz may be a relative newcomer in the market, Bayer CropScience has been committed to agricultural innovation and soybean productivity for more than a century. A 150-year investment in research, people and infrastructure has positioned Bayer CropScience as a leading technology provider in agriculture. Today, the company remains at the forefront of new product development. Molecular breeding and trait integration scientists work hand-in-hand with agronomists, entomologists and plant pathologists to ensure the right seed is created with the right traits and characteristics to meet growers' need for healthy, high-yielding soybeans.
"Bayer CropScience has a long history in the seeds business, including a proven track record in cotton, vegetable and canola seed, along with trait solutions across multiple crops," concluded Gent. "That foundation drives our approach to Credenz. We're proud to have our science at work for even more growers across the U.S. for next growing season."
