Bayer Advanced™ and The Arbor Day Foundation™ Launch Program to Plant 50,000 Trees in National Forests
So far, 530,000 trees have been planted in national forests since Bayer Advanced began its forest replanting program with The Arbor Day Foundation.
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Wildfires, destructive insects and disease destroy millions of acres of U.S. national forests each year, but there's a way you can help.
Bayer Advanced™, one of the leading consumer lawn and garden brands in the United States, is working with The Arbor Day Foundation for the sixth consecutive year to help restore our national forests and demonstrate Bayer's commitment to sustainability.
Bayer Advanced will donate one tree for each 32-oz. bottle or 1–gallon bottle you buy of Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed Concentrate. (Limit: 50,000 trees. Now through May 31, 2011.) The product protects trees in your own backyard from destructive pests for up to 12 months. Always read and follow label directions.
"The types of pests that damage or destroy trees in our national forests are the same kinds that damage or destroy trees in our backyards," said Steve Fasano, Head of Bayer Advanced Consumer Marketing. "So, this program allows you to help protect your trees and help save our forests at the same time."
The U.S. Forest Service has identified more than a million acres of devastated forests that are in need of replanting due to wildfires, destructive insects and disease.
The Bayer Advanced relationship with The Arbor Day Foundation to restore our national forests began in 2006. This spring, more trees are being planted as a result of this program, bringing the total to 580,000 trees planted in seven different national forests in four states:
Tahoe National Forest (Nevada City, Calif.)
Inyo National Forest (Bishop, Calif.)
Lassen National Forest (Susanville, Calif.)
Sequoia National Forest (Porterville, Calif.)
Bankhead National Forest (Double Springs, Ala.)
Huron–Manistee National Forest (Cadillac, Mich.)
Flathead National Forest (Kalispell, Mont.)
Trees absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, prevent erosion and serve as wildlife habitat. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, one acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and produces four tons of oxygen.
