This hospital, dedicated to the health of expectant mothers and their newborns, will ensure that generations of healthy families emerge in a country that is often found near the top of infant, maternal and neonatal mortality lists. The first facility of its kind in the area includes 20 beds, a delivery room, pre-operating and operating rooms, recovery room, a pharmacy, laboratory, modern equipment, examination room, waiting area, offices, with modern plumbing and modern electrical standards throughout the entire building. "Our hope is that by providing maternity hospitals like this in Gardez, families will have access to locally available specialized care," said Mr. Bayat.
Other examples of the Bayat Foundation's efforts are the construction of 7 other Maternity Hospitals throughout Afghanistan located in Mazar-e-Sharif, Daikundi, Tora Bora, Faryab, with two more under construction in Lashkargah and Behsood areas. These hospitals have already treated over 300,000 women and children, which are vastly improving their chances of survival. In addition, two general clinics in Sar-e-Pul and Kabul have treated over 50,000 patients.
Other recent projects for all Afghans include providing countless tons of food and clothing to the poor, refugees, and those affected by harsh winters or flooding; the drilling of deep wells and water supply systems, building roads, construction of Mosques and religious buildings in Logar, Baghlan, Kabul, and Salang; with more under construction.
