Adventure-Packed Races Simulate SEAL Training, Raise Funds for Navy SEAL Veterans & Families of Fallen SEALs
MIAMI, Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In a major first for the sport of obstacle course racing, leaders of BattleFrog, the OCR company founded by former U.S. Navy SEALs, have announced it will award over a million dollars in cash and prizes to competitors during its 2015 racing season. Founded in 2014 by Navy SEAL veterans, the obstacle course race (OCR) company presented six events this year and has over 18 events planned for 2015.
"BattleFrog was created as a tribute to our nation's military and to help people learn about the work Navy SEALs do in protecting our great nation," said Don Mann, BattleFrog chief executive officer and retired U.S. Navy SEAL member of Team SIX. "Our events are unique because actual Navy SEALs are guiding and mentoring the racers who are learning how to push themselves beyond their personal physical limits."
"We have received an overwhelmingly positive reception from the OCR community," said Mann. "They have applauded us for our commitment to staging world-class events and for creating a series for all ages inspired by the challenges U.S. Navy SEALs face every day in the field."
"To thank people for their support, and as our way of giving back to the OCR community, BattleFrog has increased our prize amounts as well as created new races and rewards programs," continued Mann. "This enables us to thank the racers for participating and will encourage even more people to learn about the sport of obstacle course racing."
Included in the exciting announcements made by BattleFrog are:

"Mandatory obstacle completion to qualify for awards, prize money paying 10 deep at every event, a championship race, a points system....and all payouts and logistics announced before the season even starts. BattleFrog is definitely raising the standard for the industry in 2015!"
Team BattleFrog
BattleFrog is also announcing the creation of a new pro team that will be led by the top OCR athletes in North America. Racing standouts Ryan Atkins of Canada, Corinna Coffin of Virginia and Claude Godbout of Canada, have all been named as members of the new Team BattleFrog.
Atkins and Coffin will serve as captains of the male and female teams. Following the conclusion of biathlon season, Canadian National Biathlon Team member Marc-Andre Bedard will also join Team BattleFrog.
"Guess who's joining the best OCR team on the block next year?! This guy is!" said Marc-Andre Bedard. "I can't wait to start racing with Team BattleFrog on the OCR series in 2015 even though I feel like I've been part of it already! This team is like family and we'll be out there soon! Watch out world, the BattleFrogs are coming!"
BattleFrog transforms every race venue into a demanding obstacle course designed to test the strength, skill, and determination of any athlete. Participants are able to choose between the BattleFrog 15K, BullFrog 5K, BullFrog Mile and TadPole Dash courses, each of which is inspired by BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) Training, the six-month long qualification course that all SEALs must undergo.
BattleFrog founders have announced that a percentage of the profits generated from the series will be shared evenly with the Navy SEAL Foundation and the Navy SEAL Museum & Memorial. This direct support honors the fallen, promotes the SEAL legacy and supports the families of those who served.
The 2015 BattleFrog race series will be sponsored in part by Kill Cliff, makers of the premium recovery drink.
