KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BATS Global Markets today announced the results of the annual reconstitution of the BATS 1000® Index, a U.S. equities market benchmark, which became effective prior to market open today.

As a result of the reconstitution, a total of 27 companies will be replaced in the Index. Some of the companies being added to the Index include Facebook Inc. (FB), Avis Budget Group, Inc. (CAR), TripAdvisor Inc. (TRIP), Raymond James Financial, Inc. (RJF), and Cabela's Inc. (CAB).
The BATS 1000 Index, which marks its fourth anniversary today, tracks the performance of 1,000 U.S. securities within 10 equally-weighted industry sectors. The Index is rebalanced on an annual basis to assign an equal 10% weighting to each of its 10 sectors.

On Friday, June 28, the BATS 1000 Index closed at 18,030.56, up 12.4% year-to-date. For the same timeframe the S&P 500 Index was up 12.6%. The BATS 1000 Index was launched on July 1, 2009, with a base value of 10,000. Since its inception, the BATS 1000 Index is up 80.3% vs 74.7% for the S&P 500.
The BATS 1000 Index data is available via the Consolidated Tape System, the operating authority for exchange-listed securities information, enabling distribution of the data to the public via the Internet and other electronic media.
