BATS Announces Annual Changes to BATS 1000 Index
U.S. EQUITIES MARKET BENCHMARK CELEBRATES TWO-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BATS Global Markets, a global stock market operator, today announced the results of the annual reconstitution of the BATS 1000(SM) Index, a U.S. equities market benchmark, which marked its second anniversary on July 1, 2011.
A total of thirty-three companies were replaced during the reconstitution, which became effective July 1, 2011. Some of the companies added to the Index included CoreLogic, Inc. (CLGX), Dillard's, Inc. (DDS), Alaska Air Group, Inc. (ALK), Oasis Petroleum, Inc. (OAS), and Tesla Motors, Inc (TSLA). Some of the companies removed from the Index included EnergySolutions (ES), NuVasive, Inc. (NUVA), Eastman Kodak Company (EK), Lexmark International, Inc. (LXK), and Tellabs (TLAB).
The BATS 1000 Index is a U.S. equities market benchmark that tracks the performance of 1,000 U.S. securities within 10 equally-weighted industry sectors. The BATS 1000 Index is rebalanced on an annual basis to assign an equal weighting to each of its 10 sectors. The BATS 1000 Index is the only U.S. broad market indicator that is exchange-sponsored and primary listings neutral. Unlike indices generated by other exchanges, the BATS 1000 Index includes securities listed on more than one U.S. securities exchange.
Year-to-date through July 5, 2011, the BATS 1000 Index was up 7.78%. The BATS 1000 Index was launched on July 1, 2009 with a base value of 10,000.
The BATS 1000 Index data is available via the Consolidated Tape System, the operating authority for exchange-listed securities information, enabling distribution of the data to the public via the Internet and other electronic media. BATS 1000 Index data can also be found via Google Finance (BATSK.X), Yahoo! Finance (^BATSK), StockCharts.com, and Bloomberg.com, among others.
