CLEVELAND, Sept. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Demand for bathtub and shower fittings is forecast to increase 4.4% per year through 2021 to $1.5 billion, the best performance of any major product type in both percentage and dollar terms. Rising building construction spending will drive demand growth. These and other trends are presented in Plumbing Fittings Market in the US, a new study from The Freedonia Group, a Cleveland-based industry research firm.
Demand for bathtub and shower fittings totaled $1.2 billion in 2016. The largest product category is antiscald valves, now required to be incorporated into baths and showers. Single-lever controls are the second largest product type of bathtub and shower fittings. These faucets' ease of use appeals to consumers in both the residential and commercial markets.
Demand for all types of plumbing fittings in the US is expected to rise 3.3% annually to $5.9 billion in 2021. Gains will be driven by:
- increased homeowner interest in the construction of additional bathrooms and the renovation of existing bathrooms
- growth in new housing construction
- an ongoing trend toward new homes having larger kitchens
- rising construction spending on plumbing fittings-intensive commercial buildings such as schools and healthcare facilities
