SAN FRANCISCO, April 24, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Bateman Group, a communications agency for the companies shaping our future with technology, today announced the opening of its third office in Portland, Oregon along with senior management promotions and key new agency hires in response to increasing company and market momentum. Over the past three years, Bateman Group has grown revenues nearly 70% helping brands like Betterment, Dialpad, Ginkgo Bioworks, Google and LinkedIn advance solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time. During the same period, Bateman Group is proud to have reinvested $650,000 in charitable grants and pro-bono services to local nonprofit organizations in line with its corporate philanthropy program E3thos.
"Conceived during the height of the tech recession of the early 2000s, Bateman Group was founded in response to a market need for a new agency model," said Fred Bateman, CEO and founder of Bateman Group. "Our vision was to build a different kind of agency -- one known for genuine domain knowledge, content expertise and guaranteed senior-level participation, but built on a foundation of people-first values that emphasize empathy as much as excellence. Many said this model would never scale, but it did and remains the vision driving our rapid growth today."
In 2018, Bateman Group's New York office revenues rose more than 40%. This growth was driven by increasing demand for Bateman Group's integrated content, PR and digital communications services within the company's new Life Sciences and Fintech practices, which grew 152% and 29%, respectively. New client additions to these two practice areas include Joyn Bio, Synthego and Waystar. Bateman Group also experienced double-digit growth in its Venture Capital, Future of Work and Future Stack practices, which grew 58%, 38% and 23%, respectively. Meanwhile, Bateman Group's Trust and Growth Technology practices maintained their leadership positions, adding new clients including Google, Pendo, ReliaQuest and ServiceChannel. The agency also launched its transportation technology practice with the addition of SkyRyse to the roster.
Office Expansion to Portland, Oregon
Bateman Group officially opened the doors on its third office location in Portland's Pearl District earlier this month. In addition to accommodating relocation requests due to the rising costs of living in San Francisco and New York, Bateman Group will be tapping into the rich PR talent pool and fast-growing technology ecosystem in the Pacific Northwest, with plans to double headcount there by the end of 2019.
Leadership Expansion from Coast to Coast
- Tyler Perry, Partner and President, New York — Bateman Group announced the promotion of company partner and former general manager of the New York office, Tyler Perry, to the role of partner and president. Perry will remain based in New York and still serve as senior strategic counsel for the company's life sciences, consumer and fintech clients, while expanding her focus to more cross-office initiatives such as service innovation, culture and inclusion efforts, and mentorship.
- Shannon Hutto, Partner and General Manager, San Francisco — Also announced today, Executive Vice President Shannon Hutto has been promoted to general manager of the San Francisco office and named the company's newest partner and co-owner. Hutto began her career at Bateman Group as a senior associate in 2007 and has provided exceptional leadership for the agency's Trust and Future of Work practices, including key accounts like Google, for the last 12 years.
- Nicole Messier, Senior Vice President, New York — Bateman Group announces the addition of industry veteran Nicole Messier to the executive leadership team. Messier will manage the Fintech practice and provide oversight to Bateman Group's Media and Broadcast practice. She is responsible for leading strategies across clients spanning enterprise, consumer tech and those in highly-regulated industries with a specialty in crisis communications.
- Matt Coolidge, Vice President, Portland — The company also announced the return of Vice President Matt Coolidge, who will lead the new Portland office. Coolidge played a critical role in the growth of the company's New York office from 2014-2017, rising from account manager to vice president during his four-year tenure. He left in 2017 to co-found and lead marketing for Civil, a media startup.
