Analyst Update: Earnings Update, Contract Expansion, Scheduled Earnings Release
U.S. stocks advanced sharply on Friday, after stronger employment data for April suggested the US economy is gaining traction again. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.49%, to close at 18,191.11, the S&P 500 gained 1.35%, to 2,116.10, and the NASDAQ Composite finished the session at 5,003.55, up 1.17%. European stocks rallied on Friday, lifted by the UK election results, which showed the Conservative Party unexpectedly sweeping into power again. Germany's DAX 30 rose 2.65%, France's CAC 40 advanced 2.48%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed 2.32% higher on Friday. Meanwhile, Asian markets surged on Friday after losing ground in the last few days. The Shanghai Composite, Japan's Nikkei, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng all posted gains on Friday.
On May 5, 2015, WPX Energy, Inc. announced its Q1 FY15 financial results. Total product revenues of $307 million during the quarter were 42% lower from a year ago. Oil and natural gas liquids accounted for 46% of product revenue, compared to 40% accountability in the prior year. Net income attributable to WPX Energy was $67 million for Q1 FY15, or $0.32 per share on a diluted basis, compared with net income of $18 million, or income of $0.09 per share, in Q1 FY14.
On March 30, 2015, Synthesis Energy Systems, Inc. (SES) announced the extension of an exclusive marketing and engineering agreement with Simon India Limited (SIL) to market SES' advanced technology for coal and biomass gasification projects in India.
On May 5, 2015, Rex Energy Corp. announced its Q1 FY15 financial results. Operating revenues from continuing operations for Q1 FY15 were $54.1 million. Lease operating expense (LOE) from continuing operations was $29.1 million, or $1.65 Mcfe for the first quarter of 2015, a 9% decrease from the first quarter of 2014.
Shares of Stillwater Mining Company rose 8.7% on May 6, 2015, to close at $14.37. This followed the Company's announcement of its Q1 FY15 financial results. Revenue for Q1 FY15 fell 8.6% from $219.50 million Q1 FY14 to reach $200.5 million. Operating Income for the quarter was $21.17 million, a decline of 15.24% from Q1 FY14.
Paragon Offshore plc is scheduled to report financial results for the first quarter 2015 on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, after the close of trading on the New York Stock Exchange. A teleconference and webcast related to its first quarter 2015 results will be conducted on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 8:00 a.m. U.S. Central Daylight Time.
