BASF hosts fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project™ during Las Vegas event
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The team from BASF's Automotive Refinish business hosted a fundraiser in Las Vegas this week as part of its participation at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The fundraiser raised $3,500 to help support wounded service members through the Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) nonprofit organization.
All funds raised will be donated to the WWP and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.
"BASF is proud to support an organization that gives vital help to our service members and those important to them," said Paul Whittleston, Vice President, Automotive Refinish & Industrial Coatings Solutions North America. "We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and success of the fundraiser and hope our contribution helps WWP fulfill their mission."
The fundraiser was held during a special event hosted by BASF Automotive Refinish on Nov. 5 at the Venetian. Richard Petty and Chip Foose signed autographs while strolling magicians entertained the attendees.
More than 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment.
WWP's 18 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.
