Baseball Glove Signed by Ty Cobb Among 800+ Collectibles in March 19 & 20 J. Levine National Sports Memorabilia Auction
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A Scottsdale resident's lifetime collection of more than 800 rare and important sports memorabilia items will hit the auction block in the midst of spring training and March Madness. "Sid Stern's Sports Memorabilia Auction" takes place on Thurs. and Fri., March 19 & 20 at J. Levine Auction & Appraisal in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Items can be previewed online now or at the auction house on Wed., March 18 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., where Baseball Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins will sign autographs from noon until 2 p.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. on Thursday and Friday for preview with the live auction starting at 11 a.m. both days.
Stern owned four drugstores in Chicago and served as the pharmacist to the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Blackhawks and Bears more than 30 years ago. Collectible sports items include:
- Baseball Glove Signed by Ty Cobb, Mel Ott, Tris Speaker and others: Includes photos. Estimated value: $5,000 to $10,000.
- Heavyweight champion boxing trunks signed by Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, George Foreman and Larry Holmes: Estimated value: $6,000 to $8,000.
- 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers team-signed baseball: Signed by Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Don Newcombe and others. Estimated value between $800 to $1,200.
- 1998 Yankees World Series team-signed baseball: Signed by Mariano Rivera, Joe Torre, Mel Stottlemyre, Jose Cardenal and others. Estimated value: $1,000 to $2,000.
- Vintage Chicago Blackhawks Travel Duffel Bag: Official NHL travel duffel bag with shoulder pads, shin guards and pants. Estimated value: $800 to $1,200.
