Barry Cohen Makes Urgent Plea for Information Concerning the Death of Andrew Joseph III
TAMPA, Fla., April 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In a video released April 5, 2014, Tampa lawyer Barry Cohen made an urgent plea for information leading to the true facts underlying the tragic death of fourteen year old Andrew Joseph III, after he was wrongfully ejected from the Florida State Fair on February 7, 2014.
Andrew Joseph, nicknamed Pee Wee, was an honor student and sports star at St. Stephen Catholic School as well as an altar boy at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Valrico, Florida.
Cohen is investigating the relevant circumstances and says he will do whatever it takes so that the Joseph family can know what actually happened to their beloved son and have the justice, peace and closure they deserve. Cohen asked the community to step forward with any knowledge they have of the circumstances of Andrew's death. They can do so anonymously if they choose.
Cohen also called upon the police, sheriffs and highway patrol officers to end a possible "conspiracy of silence." He asked them to do the right thing for Andrew and his family by coming forward if they know the truth of what happened to Andrew.
In an inexplicable event, Andrew was killed allegedly attempting to cross Interstate 4 (I-4) after being ejected from the Florida State Fair. Prior to his death, Andrew was handcuffed and shackled by law enforcement and moved miles away from the fairgrounds to a holding area. When it was determined by the authorities that Andrew had done nothing wrong – other than trying to stand up for a friend being placed under arrest – Andrew was released onto the streets miles away from the fairgrounds. Andrew's parents were never notified by law enforcement of the circumstances of their minor child's detainment or of his release and given no chance to pick him up.
Andrew was scooped up and detained along with a large group of primarily African American and Hispanic teenagers. The Fair claimed that those arrested and/or detained were involved in a wilding.
This event occurred on "Fair Day," where the Hillsborough County Schools gave away 100,000 tickets to teenagers, with virtually no restrictions on their attendance in what appears to be an effort to drive mid-way profits. New reports say that policy is being changed.
When asked about this policy, Cohen had this to say. "Sadly, this common sense move by the Fair Authority is too late for Andrew and his family. No amount of profit justifies what happened any more than General Motors (GM) was right in hiding their ignition switch problems from the public."
Barry Cohen made an additional appeal on WTSP Channel 10 News, Tampa, which was televised on April 7th and 8th, 2014.
In a prior case, Cohen was awarded 500 million dollars against a toxic waste company for their corporate arrogance, greed and irresponsibility. Scotty Perez, a 9-year-old, was recklessly poisoned by toxic waste stored on the land where he and his friends played baseball and Frisbee.
