MANCHESTER, England, September 13, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Barcelona have been well supported for this year's Champions League where Europe's champions will be crowned at Wembley.
It's the first time Wembley has staged the final since 1992 when the Catalan Giants won their first European Cup after 1-0 extra time win over Sampdoria.
"All the punters are backing Barcelona even after their shock defeat at the weekend," explained Betfred.com spokesman Mark Pearson. "It's turning into a case of anyone but Barca for the bookies. Of the English sides Manchester United have been best backed with their supporters hoping they can lift the European Cup at Wembley just like in 1968."
The Champions League starts this week with Chelsea and nine times winners Real Madrid second favourites at 11/2.
With Europe's showpiece being at Wembley and all English final is available at 5/1.
"Arsenal are friendless at the moment but if Arsene Wenger gets it right 12/1 could offer some value. We have seen some optimistic Spurs supporters backing their team at 33/1," said Mark Pearson.
At http://www.betfred.com there are also prices on who will score the most goals in the Champions League. David Villa is available at 11/2 while Lionel Messi who has come out on top for the last two seasons is the second favourite at 6/1.
Meanwhile Wayne Rooney who has been hitting the headlines of late is 12/1 to be Europe's top goalscorer.
