Barbara Cook, Michael Cerveris, Judy Kuhn, Tony Yazbeck To Headline One-Night-Only 80th Birthday Tribute To Jacques d'Amboise
Evening will kick off National Dance Institute's "JD'EIGHTY," a series of tribute events to celebrate the legendary Jacques d'Amboise
NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- National Dance Institute, the non-profit organization that has transformed the lives of millions of public school children through the arts, will host a series of events celebrating the 80th birthday of its founder and legendary New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d'Amboise. The centerpiece of this year-long celebration, JD'EIGHTY, will be a star-studded event to take place on Monday, November 17th which will pay tribute to the life of this remarkable man through performances and presentations by special guest artists. Participants include Alec Baldwin, Michael Cerveris, Barbara Cook, Chita Rivera, Judy Kuhn, Tony Yazbeck, Charlotte d'Amboise, Terrence Mann, Sterling Hyltin and Daniel Ulbricht. Tina Landau will direct the one-night-only program. At d'Amboise's request, all proceeds of the celebration will support his beloved National Dance Institute.
Additional celebratory events will include a Jacques' Art Nest screening of the Academy Award-winning film "He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin'" about d'Amboise, followed by special performances by New York City Ballet principal dancers Jared Angle and Adrian Danchig-Waring. JD'EIGHTY will culminate with NDI's Annual Gala at the Best Buy Theater in April 2015.
Founded in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage all children and motivate them toward excellence, NDI's exuberant, participatory and intellectually engaging dance and music programs are enriching the lives of more than 6,000 children in 42 New York City schools each week, filling a critical gap in public school education.
There are two ticket levels for the November 17th celebration:
A Star Is Born Ticket: $1934, in honor of Jacques's birthday year (Includes Cocktails, Dinner and Premium Theater Seating)
Grand Jete Ticket: $1000 (Includes Cocktails, Dinner and Standard Theater Seating)
