Banner Health to Offer iRhythm ZIO Service for Continuous Cardiac Monitoring
SAN FRANCISCO, April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- iRhythm Technologies, Inc., a leading digital healthcare solutions company focusing on the advancement of cardiac care, announced today that Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in the U.S., will now be offering iRhythm's ZIO® Service to patients in need of long-term continuous cardiac monitoring.
"At Banner Health, we are dedicated to strengthening our patient care by improving patient outcomes and services," said John Hensing, MD, Banner Health's executive vice president and chief medical officer. "Arrhythmias are often difficult to diagnose, but iRhythm's ZIO Service provides a more complete picture of the patient's health, allowing for faster and more accurate diagnosis and eliminating the need for additional testing, which ultimately reduces healthcare costs."
Each year, millions of patients see physicians because they feel symptoms that may or may not be caused by an irregular heartbeat, also known as cardiac arrhythmia. iRhythm's ZIO Service combines wearable biosensor devices with mobile and cloud-based technology that allow physicians to rule in, and rule out arrhythmias. The ZIO Service has the ability to record, store and analyze every heartbeat for up to 14 days and provides diagnostic support services that deliver comprehensive, actionable information to physicians. The ZIO Service will be available to the entire Banner Health system in 28 hospitals in seven states, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada and Wyoming.
"We are excited to partner with Banner Health as we are providing clinicians and patients a better way to manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias," said Kevin King, president and chief executive officer of iRhythm Technologies. "iRhythm's new category of ambulatory cardiac monitoring has been a proven approach to overcome the limitations of older technologies. Without leads, wires or battery charges, our ZIO Service wearable biosensor continuously collects, stores and analyzes every heartbeat to vastly enhance patient compliance and diagnostic yield."
The ZIO Service is the first long-term continuous monitoring service that is FDA-cleared and supported by extensive clinical data with peer-reviewed publications. The ZIO Service has been clinically proven to enhance clinical decision making and potential lower healthcare costs. Since its commercial launch in 2011, it has been used with over 300,000 patients at nearly 1,000 institutions in the U.S.
