BankUnited Names Mary Harris SVP, Director of Marketing and Public Relations
MIAMI LAKES, Fla., June 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BankUnited has hired Mary Harris as senior vice president, director of marketing. She will oversee the bank's corporate communications, public relations, advertising and community relations. Harris is an accomplished marketing and communications executive with more than 18 years of experience.
Before joining BankUnited, Harris was president of Mary Harris, Inc. where she created and delivered business development workshops and seminars to corporate clients including fortune 500 companies and provided marketing and branding coaching to executives.
Prior to Mary Harris, Inc., Harris was public relations manager of Neiman Marcus, Fort Lauderdale. In this role, she oversaw all media relations and created community partnerships to enhance the brand and increase customer traffic. Before this, she was vice president, marketing director for Union Bank, Plantation, FL. In this position, she was responsible for leading new product and service launches, media and community relations.
Active in the community, Harris has lent her time and talents to the Broward March of Dimes, Lighthouse of Broward, Humane Society and United Way of Broward County. Serving in most instances as a board member.
Harris holds a masters degree from Florida International University, a bachelor's degree from George Mason University and is certified by the Protocol School of Washington. She is also a graduate of Leadership Broward.
