Bankers Healthcare Group Participates In Broward Heart Walk

Cardiovascular disease and stroke are currently the nation's number 1 and number 5 top killers. In 1999, the AHA set a goal of reducing coronary heart disease and stroke risk 25 percent by 2010. Once this goal was achieved, the organization set an even bolder goal: by 2020, the American Heart Association aims to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.

In an effort to support the goals of the AHA and to advocate for better health, BHG employees raised $3,805 and over 20 employees participated in the walk.

"It was a pleasure to participate in the Broward Heart Walk," said BHG Fitness Manager Chrisie Allemand. "It felt great to join together as a team to fundraise and advocate for heart health. We are always looking for ways to actively engage with the community and promote a healthier lifestyle." Allemand, a certified nutritionist and personal trainer, also led the crowd of Heart Walk participants in a stretching routine before the walk commenced.
