Bankers Healthcare Group Joins TODAY's Hoda Kotb, Donates $25,000 to Pediatric Cancer Research

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TODAY show host Hoda Kotb received a great boost in her efforts to support pediatric cancer research from Bankers Healthcare Group, a leading provider of financing to healthcare professionals. BHG made a $25,000 donation to Hoda's fundraising drive to show its support for children who are fighting cancer.

BHG's president of HR and executive recruitment, Michelle Crawford, started the movement with a personal donation of $2,500 to support Hoda's Crowdrise page. Recently diagnosed with breast cancer, Crawford boldly stated, "This gift is for the early detection that will help save lives in children as well as adults. If it wasn't for early detection, I wouldn't have the chance to fight like I do."

Since her diagnosis, cancer research has been on the minds of many at BHG. After the corporate donation of $25,000, many friends and co-workers have continued to make individual donations in heartfelt support. With BHG's support, Crawford's team has contributed nearly $30,000 to Hoda's cause.

Hoda's pediatric cancer research fundraiser is part of TODAY's Shine a Light outreach initiative, in which the show's hosts have chosen worthy causes to support throughout 2014. In addition to pediatric cancer research, causes include homelessness, domestic violence, and several others. As of September 30, 2014, Hoda's efforts have helped raise $284,728 to benefit the American Cancer Society.
