SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla., May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankers Healthcare Group executive Al Canal will present CME courses discussing the business side of practicing medicine at two upcoming regional meetings of the National Medical Association, one of the nation's oldest organizations representing African American physicians and their patients.
"Prescribing a Plan for Healthier Practices," is an accredited continuing medical education class available at the Region I meeting in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Member physicians from the Northeast and Caribbean will attend the meeting from May 22 to May 26. Members from the western states can take the class at the Region VI meeting held in Palm Desert, Calif., from May 29 to June 1.
Class participants will learn concepts in business and finance, such as how to read financial statements, develop a business plan and vision statement, provide leadership in staff management and maintain a positive credit profile.
"Most healthcare professionals were not taught the essentials of business and finance during their clinical education," said Canal. "Successful practice management enables physicians to give more attention and energy to patient care."
In addition to being the financing partner of the NMA, BHG has developed similar relationships with many national and regional associations, including the National Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Hispanic Dental Association and the American Academy of Private Physicians.
