Every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft- often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. One in 10 will die before their first birthday. For each loan generated through the Send A Smile campaign, BHG will donate a cleft repair surgery on behalf of their healthcare clientele. In addition, BHG and Operation Smile hope that the campaign will help raise awareness and support within the healthcare community.
More than 5,000 healthcare professionals volunteer with Operation Smile to provide surgeries and training all over the world.
"We understand how challenging it can be for our nation's healthcare providers to balance priorities- from patients to practices to insurance companies. To think that so many donate their limited free time to travel the world and provide this service is inspiring," stated Robert Castro, President of BHG. "Bankers Healthcare Group is honored to support such a noble cause."
BHG has pledged a minimum of $25,000 for the remainder of 2012, but hopes that number will grow. Chris Panebianco, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Bankers Healthcare Group, believes that the partnership is a natural fit. "BHG is thrilled to have the opportunity to provide these life-changing procedures. We're also very excited about the potential awareness we can generate utilizing our existing networks in the healthcare community," he said.
