Bank of the West to Host Pac-12 Men's Basketball Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony
College greats will be honored by the Pac-12 for their athletic achievements
LOS ANGELES, March 8, 2012 Bank of the West is hosting the March 10 ceremony honoring 11 former student athletes and one former coach who are being inducted into the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Hall of Honor.
"It's a great pleasure to be connected with an organization such as the Pac-12 that promotes the tradition of academic excellence and strong athletic performance," said Bank of the West Senior Executive Vice President Andy Harmening of the upcoming event. "Their culture of high performance is certainly one that resonates with us at Bank of the West, and we look forward to a partnership with the Pac-12 where we can support the programs that benefit generations of student athletes and Pac-12 fans."
This is the second year that Bank of the West is hosting the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Hall of Honor taking place at L.A. Live. Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott will provide welcoming remarks for the program.
The individuals being inducted are:
- Richard Jefferson, Arizona (1999 – 2001)
- Kurt Nimphius, Arizona State (1977 – 1980)
- Lamond Murray, California (1992 – 1994)
- Burdette Haldorson, Colorado (1952 – 1955)
- Jim Barnett, Oregon (1964 – 1966)
- A.C. Green, Oregon State (1982 – 1985)
- George Selleck, Stanford (1954 – 1956)
- Ed O'Bannon, UCLA (1992 – 1995)
- Sam Barry, USC (1930 – 1941, 1946 – 1950)
- Arnie Ferrin, Utah (1944, 1945, 1947, 1948)
- George Irvine, Washington (1968 – 1970)
- Steve Puidokas, Washington State (1973 – 1977)
The University of Colorado and the University of Utah officially became the 11th and 12th members of the Conference July 1, 2011, the first additions to the league since 1978. During the 33 years between expansions, Conference teams claimed 258 NCAA titles, including 130 women's and 128 men's. Currently, the Pac-12 sponsors 11 men's sports and 11 women's sports. The Pac-12 Conference offices are located 25 miles east of San Francisco in Walnut Creek, California.
