Market Probe's annual survey of U.S. households found Bank of the West ranked highest among regional banks in the West for its exceptional ability to produce and sustain customer advocacy behavior.
"Bank of the West puts the customer at the center of everything we do. This year's ranking demonstrates once again that our customers value our leading client service and attention to their financial needs," Andy Harmening, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Regional Banking at Bank of the West, said. "We value our customers, and in this changing banking environment, we have worked hard to maintain their trust."
The survey found that in the regional bank category Bank of the West and M&T Bank of Buffalo, NY, ranked highest with 22% of their retail customer base classified as advocates. Market Probe defines advocates as those customers so happy with their banking experience that they tell friends, co-workers and others about their positive experience.
Established to compare the advocacy profiles of the 20 largest banks, Market Probe's Retail Customer Advocacy Monitor surveyed over 3,600 households nationally to determine the depth of relationship between each bank and their respective customers. Consumers shared positive and negative comments about their banking experiences, recent account activity with the bank, and general attitudes toward each financial institution.
Since 2010, Market Probe has ranked the largest US retail banks by the percentage of customers who actively advocate for their bank to others. Market Probe classifies banks as national, super-regional and regional based on the size of their footprint.
