SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bank of the West joins the San Francisco Bay Area and Golden Bear fans in congratulating the University of California on its newly renovated California Memorial Stadium, scheduled to open Saturday, September 1, 2012. The bank is a longtime sponsor of Cal Athletics and the facility upgrade includes two newly installed Bank of the West branded 'Bank of the West BearVision' video boards. "Bank of the West is proud to have its signage prominently displayed at California Memorial Stadium – one of the most enduring symbols of the University of California campus," said Dan Osipow, senior vice president over Corporate Sponsorships at Bank of the West. "Our presence at the stadium is part of our larger commitment to Cal Athletics and also one of the many ways we connect with the Bay Area community. Not only are we pleased to be part of the history of this celebrated building but we're also excited to be a part of future generations' traditions and memories of Cal Athletics."
California Memorial Stadium, built in 1923, was dedicated to the Berkeley students, alumni and other Californians who lost their lives in World War I. The stadium will be game-ready this Saturday when the Golden Bears host Nevada to open the 2012 season.
