SALEM, Ore., May 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bank of Eastern Oregon, headquartered in Heppner, Ore., has announced an initiative to bring financial literacy education to high schools in eastern Oregon by providing them with access to the EverFi financial literacy web‐based learning platform. The EverFi program, endorsed by the Oregon Bankers Association, uses the latest in new media technologies – video, animations, 3‐D gaming, avatars, and social networking – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today's digital generation. After completing the EverFi curriculum, students will become certified in over 600 topics in financial education, allowing them to become more informed, responsible citizens.
EverFi is a perfect fit for Oregon high school students' economics courses, and helps students meet the Department of Education's "lifeskills" objectives. The EverFi curriculum has been developed in cooperation with educators nationwide, and to date, more than three million students have completed EverFi learning platforms.
"We've found the EverFi program to be an excellent way to supplement the teaching of financial literacy skills to high school students and decided to make an additional investment in the education of students in our rural communities beyond our current programs," said Jeff Bailey, president and CEO of Bank of Eastern Oregon.
