VANCOUVER, Wash., Oct. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Banfield Foundation®, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, today announced the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors.
Joining the board are Dr. Brent Mayabb, chief veterinary officer and vice president, Corporate Affairs for Royal Canin USA and Hannah Peters, managing director, Corporate + U.S. Practice Leader, Corporate Social Responsibility, Hill+Knowlton Strategies.
Dr. Mayabb joined Royal Canin USA in 2004 and has served in a variety of roles leading up to his current function of chief veterinary officer and vice president, Corporate Affairs. In his role, Dr. Mayabb is responsible for corporate communications, public relations, regulatory, public and veterinary affairs, with an increased emphasis on connecting with key opinion leaders and other influencers within the veterinary industry. Prior to joining Royal Canin, Dr. Mayabb worked in a small animal veterinary practice in Illinois. He continues to do companion animal relief work in St. Louis and volunteers at events with the Animal Protective Association of Missouri.

Peters brings more than 16 years of strategic communications experience, partnering with a range of Fortune 100 clients and non-profits on corporate social responsibility, sustainability, reputation management, corporate communications and public affairs. Her clients have included a global communications provider, one of the world's largest retailers, a leading consumer packaged goods company, and the world's largest general veterinary practice. During her career at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Peters has established a broad range of expertise, helping her clients define priorities as corporate citizens, manage and differentiate their reputations, engage key stakeholders, and leverage rapid-response campaign war rooms.
Previously, Peters served as vice president at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, and before that, in a similar capacity as director at Public Strategies. Before joining Public Strategies, Peters served as a caseworker for the California Workers' Compensation System. Previously, she held several diverse positions in international development, including program officer for the U.S. Department of State, grant-proposal analyst for the Costa Rican government, and field supervisor for a nonprofit organization performing community-improvement projects in rural Mexico.

In September, the Banfield Foundation celebrated its third anniversary. Since its inception in 2015, the foundation has granted more than $5 million to nonprofits, provided 660 grants and impacted the lives of 1.6 million pets. The foundation runs five grant programs primarily focused on enabling veterinary care, temporary shelter and disaster relief, and in 2019, will launch a new grant program focused on helping pets and people impacted by domestic violence.
