BANDIT Loves A Good Story, but This Sounds Like Movie Studio Fantasy!
A fairy tale ending?
COPENHAGEN, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- "Once upon a time..."
Isn't that how the good fairy tale storytellers start?
Not anymore!
Here's the skinny...
Alice In Wonderland is due for general release in the UK on March 5th. The plan is that it would be one of the first major 3D blockbusters of the year (forgetting the blue aliens for a second).
In the UK, 3D cinemas are pretty much controlled by 3 companies (Odeon, Cineworld and Vue). They have 95% of all the 3D screens in the country.
No problem so far I hear you say...well, not quite.
Disney has let slip that they plan on releasing the DVD version of 'Alice' 12 weeks after the film is released (down from the standard 17 weeks).
The three, 3D screen owners are not pleased and it looks like they may not carry the film without some sort of negotiation!
Cue the business class flights of Disney execs to the UK for talks...
WHAT? These guys really don't know what they're doing do they? Do they even know anything about the people they're trying to peddle movies to?
