Balzac's Coffee Roasters chooses RealCup® brand for expansion in EcoCup™ recyclable format
Honouring their sustainability commitment, artisanal roaster chooses Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee's EcoCupTM capsule for entry into single serve format
MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 29, 2015 /CNW/ - Balzac's Coffee® Roasters has chosen Mother Parkers' RealCup® solution to launch into the single serve capsule format. The RealCup® brand's environmentally friendly format, EcoCup™ recyclable capsule, allows consumers to recycle the plastic cup.
"We have enjoyed remarkable growth since appearing on Dragon's Den in 2012," said Diana Olsen, President and Founder of Balzac's Coffee Roasters. "And through it all, we have worked hard to maintain the commitment to our four founding values: Natural, Local, Artisanal and Sustainable. With the availability of Mother Parkers' EcoCup™ format, we felt it was the right time to expand into this rapidly growing single serve market and give consumers a more environmentally conscious option when selecting a single serve coffee brand. Once we sampled our unique coffee blends brewed from a RealCup® capsule, the superb full-bodied taste gave us the confidence to forge ahead in this new format."
Balzac's Coffee® Roasters was founded in 1996 with the first Balzac's café in Stratford, Ontario. Today, there are 11 Balzac's Cafés in Ontario and a growing e-tail business.
Two best-selling Balzac's coffee blends are now available in recyclable capsules at select specialty retailers, Balzac's Cafés and on-line from Balzac's website. Balzac's Blend Traditional Roast is based on Honoré de Balzac's own blend. A Dark Affair is full-bodied and boasts a rich, vibrant taste. In keeping with their cultured and artistic approach to the Balzac's brand, the new single serve coffees will stand out on store shelves with packaging by award-winning designers Chad Roberts and Scott Mckowen.
"As a Canadian family-owned company with more than 102 years of history, Mother Parkers understands what it takes to build a business from the ground up and we are excited about the opportunity to help another successful Canadian entrepreneur grow in new ways," said Sean Bredt, Vice-President of Marketing for Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee. "The quality and attention to detail in Balzac's coffee blends are perfect for the RealCup® filter solution that puts true taste in the cup."
Balzac's Coffee® Roasters is the latest in a list of leading restaurants, foodservice operators and office coffee service providers to choose the RealCup® solution for single serve coffee and tea. The exceptionally fresh taste that is produced by the Flavour Max patented filter gives consumers an authentic coffee experience with the convenience of single cup brewing.
