Ballwin, Valley Park Dickey's Barbecue Pits to Host Backstopper Charity Event

BALLWIN, Mo. and VALLEY PARK, Mo., Jan. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pits in Ballwin and Valley Park announce their plans to host a Backstoppers charity event, benefitting the local police officers and firefighters on Sunday, January 30th.

The Backstoppers organization supports local families whom lost a loved one in the line of duty.  

"We wanted to sponsor and host an event that really meant something to us," Franchise Owner Sumit Verma said. "This is a great opportunity to give back to a wonderful organization. By doing this, I feel like we can really make a difference in people's lives."

Organizers pledge to donate 10% of sales from the entire day.

"This is a cause that is close to people in our community" he said. "We hope to raise as much money and awareness as we can."

Organizers said the police and fire stations will have a few of their vehicles on site for kids to look at, while other participants can enjoy games and entertainment such as face painting.

Dickey's Barbecue asks all Dickey's Owner/Operators to find ways to be good stewards in the communities in which they do business.

Dickey's encourages all franchise owners to engrain themselves in the surrounding community.

"We want to give the franchisees a foundation for success with a strong business model and ongoing support, but then we leave it in their hands to make their Dickey's a community staple," President Roland Dickey Jr. said.

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
