Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force: New Year's Resolution to Americans
"If Washington Won't Stop The Reckless Deficits, We Will, With Your Help, Constitutionally Force Them To Balance the Budget!"
LEESBURG, Va., Dec. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a letter to our fellow Americans from the Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force:
The undersigned state legislators and concerned citizens are committed to a national effort to add a balanced budget amendment to United States Constitution, to stop Washington's reckless deficit spending and debt accumulation and help ensure our nation's prosperity now and in the future.
The federal government is $16 trillion in debt and, under current law, will lose a trillion dollars a year for as far as the eye can see. We are headed down the path of bankrupt countries like Greece. The so-called "fiscal cliff" negotiations are just the latest affront to the sensibilities of the American people.
Seventy percent of our fellow Americans support a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Yet decade after decade Congress borrows more money from countries like China and votes against a Balanced Budget Amendment.
Our founding fathers made it possible for states to get together and draft amendments to the Constitution when the Congress failed to do the right thing. We believe now is the time for the states to draft a Balanced Budget Amendment, using the procedure established in Article V of the Constitution by the founders.
Many states have already taken action on this issue. We need your help to pass Balanced Budget Amendment resolutions in at least 16 more states, to meet the requirements of Article V.
If you want to pass on the American Dream instead of a Greek Tragedy, please call your state representatives and tell them you want your state to be one of the states demanding a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Call or write the Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force if you want more information or to be a part of the campaign to "Constitutionally Force Washington To Balance The Budget."
Sincerely,
