BALANCE Celebrates 50 Years of Financial Empowerment
National Nonprofit Reaches Milestone Anniversary
CONCORD, Calif., March 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- BALANCE, a nonprofit dedicated to helping consumers balance life's important financial decisions, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. As one of the nation's oldest non-profits, BALANCE provides money management and HUD-approved housing counseling services to consumers. As an early leader in delivering financial coaching programs, the organization serves several hundred thousand consumers a year through partnerships with financial institutions, government agencies, employers, and other non-profits.
This milestone anniversary highlights the company's significant growth from its humble origins. BALANCE began in the late 1950's in the basement of a Bank of America in San Francisco, where dedicated employees met with consumers to help them take control of their finances.
Years later, the initiative became the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of San Francisco, and later rebranded as BALANCE to reflect its move away from just credit counseling, but rather a focus on financial empowerment. With expanded scale and multiple locations, today BALANCE serves hundreds of partners, offering educational workshops, webinars and in-depth digital content services.
BALANCE continues to pursue its mission of positively impacting people's financial lives and looks forward to its next 50 years of serving families throughout the United States.
