"This agreement with Information Age, a top-notch academic publisher, marks the latest chapter in the growth of Baker & Taylor's TextStream services," said Tom Morgan, CEO of Baker & Taylor. "We are proud that IAP has chosen TextStream as a trusted provider of print-on-demand services."
Its deal with IAP is Baker & Taylor's latest step in expanding TextStream's reach in the publishing community. TextStream provides publishers with a full range of print-on-demand/print-to-order services and a wide variety of binding formats and trim sizes.
"IAP was an early adopter of print-on-demand, recognizing the cost savings inherent in ordering and printing books as it sells them, rather than warehousing inventory. We are pleased to partner with this publishing leader," said Larry Bennett, Vice President of Digital Print Media for Baker & Taylor.
Combined with Baker & Taylor's unparalleled reach – particularly into library channels, TextStream is especially advantageous to IAP and its authors, who are striving to get their books on academic library shelves one or a handful at a time. The vast majority of IAP sales to Baker & Taylor go through Baker & Taylor's academic unit, YBP Library Services.
"Working with Baker & Taylor's TextStream and YBP Library Services for print on demand was a logical decision, given the breadth and scope of their approval program, their leading market share in the academic library space and their expertise in the digital arena," said George Johnson, President and Publisher of IAP. "For a midsized company like IAP, Baker & Taylor's digital and print-on-demand services make this an important step in our growth in an increasingly competitive market."
