HOUSTON, Sept. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bahri, a global leader in logistics and transportation, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, reaffirmed its leadership position in general cargo transportation and logistics in the West-Arabian Gulf corridor with two key announcements today.
Marking its fourth appearance at Breakbulk Americas 2016 after having taken over agency activities in the Gulf and South Atlantic, Bahri introduced a maritime industry-first 'Data Innovation' platform to enhance productivity, unlock opportunities for growth and transform the shipping industry. Titled 'BahriData,' the innovative model is intended to improve the company's operating performance and drive data innovation within the global shipping industry.
Bahri (America) Inc., headquartered in Baltimore, also announced plans to open its second North American office in Houston, citing The Port of Houston as the leading breakbulk port in the U.S. and consistently top-ranked in terms of foreign waterborne tonnage. Operating from its Baltimore office since 1992, Bahri General Cargo operates six new state-of-the-art multipurpose vessels with an average age of less than three years on a regular liner schedule, all uniquely designed to carry Project, Roll-on Roll-off, Break Bulk and Container Cargo in a single voyage. Of these, four vessels connect the U.S. to Saudi Arabia and major ports in the Gulf, Indian Sub-Continent and Mediterranean Sea.
"Bahri General Cargo has a novel approach to its focus on optimal cargo mix and is the leading direct RoCon (Roll-on/Roll-off Container) liner service provider from the U.S. to the Middle East and Indian subcontinent, making this corridor one of the most profitable routes for Bahri," said Steven Blowers, U.S. Country Manager at Bahri General Cargo. "Through our data innovation model, 'BahriData,' we are gearing up to make more informed decisions and be fully prepared to tackle the challenges of tomorrow."
Bahri's cross-functional team of maritime industry professionals and technology specialists is currently developing several Big Data models that will help streamline and enhance all aspects of the company's operations. The models cover a number of key business areas, including Chartering, Voyage Management, Fleet Operations, Connected Ship, Maintenance, Customer Control Tower and Customer Service. Bahri's competitive advantage of steadfast focus on data innovation will lead the company to diversify its reach across all lines of business, including general cargo, and emerge as the leading global operator by 2017.
"With the opening of a second U.S. office in Houston, home to one of the busiest ports in the world, Bahri General Cargo will provide unmatched customer experiences and deliver leading, technology-driven, value-added onshore and offshore services," said Blowers.
Bahri is exhibiting at Booth #1031 at Breakbulk Americas 2016, now in its 27th year and recognized as the largest exhibition of its kind in the Americas, bringing top-tier shippers together with breakbulk and project cargo service providers.
