Bahrain's Supreme Council for Women Celebrates 10 Years of Achievements
MANAMA, Bahrain, Dec. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In marking its 10-year anniversary, Bahrain's Supreme Council for Women (SCW) issued a report highlighting the participation of Bahraini women in regional, Arab and international events relating to women's issues.
The report highlights the achievements of the SCW over the last 10 years, including the participation of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, SCW's president, in a 2007 United Nations General Assembly event that focused on the role micro-financing plays in the empowerment of women, how to boost egalitarianism and eradicate discrimination. The report also shows how HRH Princess Sabeeka worked to further the goals of the SCW by initiating partnership agreements with public and private sectors to help achieve women's socio-economic development.
The theme of the ceremony dedicated to celebrating 10 years of the SCW will be, "Bahraini Women in Economic Development…Partnership and Dedication." The ceremony will highlight 45 young Bahraini women entrepreneurs under the age of 45 and will showcase their ideas and work.
To further mark this anniversary the SCW will hold the Bahrain Women Economic Forum on Thursday, where it will present the way in which Bahraini women have played a key role in promoting economic development within the country.
The 10 year anniversary of the SCW will be celebrated Wednesday with a ceremony led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka.
