Bahrain's Prime Minister Prioritizes Foreign Investment and Economic Growth
MANAMA, Bahrain, Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday urged the development of a strategy aimed at increasing foreign business investment and participation in business exhibitions in Bahrain.
He emphasized the need for incentives to address competitiveness in light of current economic conditions, and gave his full support to the Minister of Industry and Commerce to further promote business development, particularly in terms of exhibitions.
In addition, Tamkeen, a semi-autonomous authority promoting Bahraini employment, also announced new directives giving expatriate businesses in Bahrain the same access to programs and facilities as local businesses.
"We welcome this initiative because it will help the private sector develop productivity and growth, including human resource development through the support of Bahrainis to become the employees of choice, and support job creation in the sector," Tamkeen Customer Engagement and Support Senior Manager Yousif Ali said.
Bahrain is a free, transparent and open market economy, located strategically on the Gulf. Foreign investment in Bahrain requires minimal red-tape and no local partner to get started. Bahrain's operating costs are among the lowest in the Gulf, with no corporate or personal income taxes.
