Bahraini Insulin Facility to Benefit Gulf Region's Health, Economy
MANAMA, Bahrain, June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bahrain is investing $93 million in a Gulf Biotic facility to produce insulin devices and the growth of diabetes in the Gulf region.
"The focus of the supply will be in the six GCC states as increasing number of population in these countries are suffering from diabetes," said Dr. Khalid Abdulla, CEO of Innovest, which will operate the new venture.
The 16,000 square meter facility in Salman Industrial City will also provide more than a hundred jobs for Bahraini nationals.
The plant will manufacture insulin vials and cartridges, producing 26m units annually. All products will comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency.
The site is set to open in two years.
