MANAMA, Bahrain, Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Kingdom of Bahrain has pledged $10 million to help the African-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA). AFISMA was authorized by the UN Security Council in December.
His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the foreign minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, said that the aid is premised on the kingdom's strong belief in supporting all regional and international efforts to boost security, stability, and combating terrorism.
His Excellency the Minister went on to say that the Kingdom of Bahrain fully appreciated the regional and international support to Mali to preserve the sovereignty, territorial integrity, dignity of its people, and its rich cultural heritage under the rule of law and peaceful political action.
The minister spoke in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, where he attended the donor conference at the African Union headquarters. The conference is part of an international drive to support Mali.
