Bahrain Named Vice President of UNESCO International Bureau of Education

MANAMA, Bahrain, Jan. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Yesterday, Bahrain was elected as a vice president of the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE) after a vote from the IBE Council's 28 member states.

Based in Geneva, Switzerland, IBE builds networks throughout the world to assist with curriculum development and educational policies. It works under the "Education for All" goals adopted at the World Education Forum in 2000. The bureau is governed by a council of member states who elect a steering committee of one president and five vice presidents.

Bahrain's Minister of Education, His Excellency Dr. Majed bin Ali Al Nuami, welcomed the country's new role and gave Bahrain's full support to the bureau's mission.
