Bahrain Lines Up Popular Cultural Performances for Summer Festival
MANAMA, Bahrain, May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Bahrain's Ministry of Culture announced a series of cultural and musical acts to headline the fourth annual Bahrain Summer Festival next month.
Beginning June 14, the four-week long festival will feature theatrical performances, musicals and a series of children's programs. Highlights include a Russian theatrical performance, Slava's Snow White, the Sound of Music and performances by hip hop artists.
"Our program this year is lively and interactive, dedicated to the future of children, families and all guests," Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa said.
Held under the slogan, "Manama, the City of Joy," the festival will emphasize Bahrain's rich history at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre throughout the month.
"We want to show the real special cultural aspect about Bahrain, in a way that allows us to maintain our heritage and traditions," Minister Shaikha Mai said.
This year's festival coincides with Bahrain being chosen as the Arab Capital of Culture 2012 and as the Arab Capital of Tourism 2013.
