Bahrain Human Rights Leader: The Time for Dialogue is Now
WASHINGTON, May 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A prominent human rights activist in Bahrain argued it is time for all sides in Bahrain to come to the negotiating table.
Abdulla AlDoseri, head of International Affairs for the National Association for Human Rights in Bahrain, said in an interview this week that Bahrain is moving towards security and stability but must resolve certain issues that emerged this spring.
"Everyone who was involved in disrupting the flow of life in Bahrain must be held accountable," AlDoseri said. "Everything must be investigated and those who committed crimes must be punished."
AlDoseri asserted that Bahrain is returning to a normal pace and should continue to improve throughout the rest of the year.
"We are committed to peaceful dialogue and encourage everyone concerned about the future to come to the table," AlDoseri said. "Longer term resolutions must be pursued."
AlDoseri said that while there have been sectarian tensions manifested over the past three months, there is one fact that all must keep in mind.
"Bahrain is for everybody," AlDoseri concluded. "We must live together in peace."
The human rights advocate was in Washington to attend a hearing on Capitol Hill and plans to continue speaking out about ways to resolve the unrest in Bahrain.
