MANAMA, Bahrain, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Charges against more than 100 Bahraini athletes who took part in the nation's unrest earlier in the year will be dropped, Bahrain's Public Prosecution Office announced yesterday.
The Public Prosecution Office halted the trials of the athletes and dismissed all charges after Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa delivered a speech in which he forgave all who spoke out against him.
A demand to cease prosecution will be forwarded to the court in charge of the case, Bahrain's General Attorney Abdulrahman Al-Sayyed told Bahrain News Agency.
The charges against the athletes included; participating in protests, rallying and inciting hatred, and defaming leaders and state symbols.
