Bahrain Announces Salary Hikes for Public Sector Employees
MANAMA, Bahrain, Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Inspired by views expressed during the National Dialogue, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa announced a 36.5 percent salary increase for government employees and a 37.5 percent salary increase for pensioners, reports the Khaleej Times.
With the increase, the minimum salary for government workers would be BD402 and BD275 for pensioners; with a cost of living allowance between BD50 and BD60. All retired employees will receive a monthly allowance of BD75.
The government has allocated BD200 million for these increases, which will be the largest in the history of Bahrain. Increases will benefit all civilian and military officials when they take effect this month.
