LOS ANGELES, March 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Releasing today digitally on Back Lot Music is the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Album from Universal Studios Home Entertainment's all-new movie, The Little Rascals Save the Day. The album features new music by composer Chris Hajian (Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, First Position) and songs created for the film, some of which are sung on screen by the cast that includes Nikki Leonti, Ace Young, River Alexander, and Eden Wood. The soundtrack also features a new cover of Canned Heat's "Let's Work Together" by pop band The 88. Directed by Alex Zamm (Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2) who also wrote one song for the film, The Little Rascals Save the Day is available today on Digital HD and on Blu-ray Combo Pack, including Blu-ray, DVD, & DIGITAL HD with UltraViolet, and DVD April 1st.
In the spirit of the treasured Our Gang comedies, The Little Rascals Save the Day finds the most entertaining bunch of third graders in town hatching a series of madcap schemes to earn enough money to keep Grandma's (Doris Roberts of "Everybody Loves Raymond") bakery out of the clutches of conniving businessman Big Ray (Greg Germann of Here Comes the Boom). From caddying to pet care to taxi service, each of their plans goes hilariously awry until they are left with just two options: find a way to win the local talent show or wave goodbye to the best cupcakes a kid ever tasted!
Eden Wood of the hit reality series "Toddlers and Tiaras" makes her feature film debut as pint-sized coquette, Darla, along with the fresh young faces of Camden Gray, Chase Vacnin, Connor Berry, Drew Justice, Grant Palmer II, YouTube sensation Isaiah "Zay-Zay" Fredericks, Jet Jurgensmeyer, Jenna Ortega and Rio Mangini in the iconic Rascals family-friendly original comedy. Adult actors Valerie Azlynn ("Sullivan and Son") and Lex Medlin ("Drop Dead Diva") complete the cast.
The film's composer Chris Hajian began his musical education at the age of five, studying trumpet under his father, Edward, a professional musician in New York City. Hajian's formal training started at New York's "Famed" High School of the Performing Arts, and continued at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied classical composition.
Hajian's composition roots began in the indie film movement of the 90's. Most notably, he composed the score to Ten Benny starring Adrian Brody that was selected for the 1996 Sundance Film Festival. He then composed the provocative score for Mr. Vincent that premiered at Sundance the following year. Hajian's career started to blossom as he worked steadily composing for film, television, and documentaries. He composed music for HBO's Naked States and sequel Naked World, about the work of photographer Spencer Tunick. Hajian's television credits include an entire season of The Knights of Prosperity (ABC), as well as the theme song for Bravo's Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
In regards to composing the music for The Little Rascals Save the Day, Hajian says "[it] was one of the high points of my career. First off, I got to work again with my dear friend and collaborator, director Alex Zamm. It was a fun and challenging task to create a newer, more modern version of the iconic Rascals music. While the film is more contemporary, it still has much of the warmth and feel of the classic Rascals films. Being able to write in that style and to create new original themes is a composers dream and I'm grateful I got the opportunity to be a part of the storytelling of this new chapter of The Little Rascals."
