BOSTON, May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Boston Architectural College welcomed over 400 guests to its largest fundraiser ever, the second annual Spring Into Design Gala, on April 21, 2016, at the Seaport District's Innovation and Design Building. The event, which was completely sold out in March, exceeded all expectations and raised a record-breaking $350,000 for the College. In only its second year, the Spring Into Design Gala doubled its attendance while significantly boosting sponsorships to a grand total of 73 sponsors, 15 event partners, 53 auction partners, and 21 food and beverage partners.
Focusing on sustainability and featuring food and beverage tasting tables around the venue, the event is unlike traditional galas, minimizing the waste without sacrificing glam. All of the food and beverage sponsors were local and sustainable-minded, and offered guests the opportunity to try a variety of flavors and learn about local businesses. There was something for everyone – some of the fan favorites included Island Creek Oysters, Pavement Coffeehouse, Genji Sushi, Taza Chocolate, Tavern Road, and Harpoon.
As the event grew in scale this year, increased student involvement was central to its planning and execution. The furniture auction, which boasted a Knoll Sparrow Lamp, Eames Soft Pad Chair and Ottoman, Lumicor café table, and Bernhardt Manhasset Lounge Chair was designed entirely by BAC Interior Architecture students. Using the furniture auction items, the team of students worked together to design several mini showrooms for people to walk through and experience the furniture.
Guests could also bid on packages featured in the traditional auction, which ended up raising over $13,000. The items were diverse and included a team-signed Boston Celtics basketball, fancy restaurant dinners with wine pairings, spa experiences, beautiful paintings, and more. An especially popular auction item was 24 hours with a Tesla Model S, the safest, most cutting-edge car in the world. The Tesla was stationed on site and while many guests took advantage of bidding on the package, others simply enjoyed sitting in the car and had fun picturing themselves as the proud owner.
Thank you to all of the Spring Into Design gala sponsors who made the night delicious, and thank you to everyone who participated in this monumental event. All of the funds raised directly support the Boston Architectural College's deserving students and faculty through financial aid, campus improvements, and upgrades in technology.
