NEW YORK, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- baby+co., a network of women's health + family wellness centers, has partnered with National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN), a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to eliminating diaper need in America. This Diaper Need Awareness Week (Sept. 25-Oct. 1), baby+co. kicks off a national crowdsourcing effort with the goal to raise $25,000, which the company will match up to $50,000. All donations will support diaper relief efforts for hurricane victims in Texas, Florida and surrounding areas.
"One of our very own was deeply impacted by Hurricane Harvey so we immediately responded by organizing a collection at our centers and fundraising to help her home state," said Kate Condliffe, chief operations officer for baby+co. "When Irma struck, we realized the devastation caused throughout the entire state of Florida also warranted support. Partnering with the National Diaper Bank Network enables us to support more mothers, babies and families in the affected areas, including Texas where our efforts began."
Joining with NDBN allows baby+co. to stretch dollars raised through the nonprofit's access to diaper purchase programs, allowing the organizations to get more diapers to families needing the support. In addition, the NDBN will help strategically direct relief efforts to the areas of greatest need and diaper banks that can logistically accept the donation.
"Every day, families are struggling to provide their babies with basic needs, such as diapers. When disaster strikes, this becomes all the more difficult," said Joanne Goldblum, founder and CEO of the National Diaper Bank Network. "We are excited to partner with a company like baby+co., who is passionate about ensuring the safety and health of babies. Through these additional funds, we will be able to help even more families in affected areas to help ensure the well-being of children and parents."
The campaign begins during Diaper Need Awareness Week to help underscore the ongoing need for diapers. Many people are unaware that government assistance programs do not provide funding for diapers, a basic necessity for babies. Currently there are 5.2 million infants and toddlers living in low-income families, many of which face a daily struggle to secure a necessary supply of diapers.
