Consultant, author, and venture capitalist turned angel investor and startup advisor will support student entrepreneurs from Babson and nearby Wellesley and Olin Colleges
WELLESLEY, Mass., Feb. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babson College has announced that consultant, author, and venture capitalist turned angel investor and startup advisor Robert Stringer will be the new Director for its award-winning, immersive Summer Venture Program for student entrepreneurs from Babson and nearby Wellesley and Olin Colleges.
Stringer was the Founding General Partner of Sherbrooke Capital, LLC, a $100 million venture capital firm invested in health and wellness and food and beverage companies and based in Boston. Engaged and excited by the entrepreneurs in whose ventures he was investing, he now works with a portfolio of over thirty early stage technology, health and wellness, and consumer goods companies and their founders as the Founder and Principal Investor of Crimson Seed Capital.
About Stringer joining SVP, Debi Kleiman, Executive Director of the Blank Center for Entrepreneurship, commented, "The SVP Director is the guide for the student entrepreneurs as they progress on their journey throughout the ten weeks, contributing immeasurably to their experience. Bob's enthusiasm for mentoring entrepreneurs during the exciting, early days of their ventures, along with his rich experience consulting and teaching, means that our entrepreneurs will have an incredible sounding board and coach." "I'm eager to see what I can add and I'm also eager to learn," said Stringer.
Stringer has an extensive career as an organizational consultant, author, and faculty lecturer at Babson and Harvard Business School. Along with George Litwin, he developed the concept of organizational climate and went on to write the McKinsey award-winning book Motivation and Organizational Climate. He is also the author of four other books on culture and business strategy, including the recently published Culture.com: How the Best Startups Make it Happen. His consulting experience included working with executives from a lengthy list of global companies, including PepsiCo and Bank of America, as well as assignments with early stage companies.
About Summer Venture Program
The Blank Center for Entrepreneurship's Summer Venture Program (SVP) is a 10-week intensive experience that builds entrepreneurial skills and accelerates the development of student ventures. Each year approximately 15 teams are chosen among the most promising graduate and undergraduate entrepreneurs from Babson College, F.W. Olin College of Engineering, and Wellesley College.
Teams receive free housing, 24/7 workspace downtown, dedicated advisors, expert speakers/mentors, and world-class programming that leverage the resources of the Blank Center. As teams work to build their businesses, they make invaluable connections to potential customers, partners, investors, and industry influencers. At the culmination of the program, teams present at the Summer Venture Showcase to an audience of over 400 members of the Babson and local startup communities. Although the value of a transformative experience on an entrepreneur is priceless, each Babson Summer Venture team receives services with a market value of at least $200,000.
Participants form lifelong bonds with their fellow entrepreneurs, and after the program, they join a powerful network of hundreds of SVP alumni that span over a decade.
