Babson College Receives Global Consortium Of Entrepreneurship Centers Award
Esteemed honor recognizes Babson's outstanding contribution to new venture acceleration
WELLESLEY, Mass., Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Babson College has received the Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship (GCEC) Award, designed to showcase and celebrate the very best of university entrepreneurship, for Outstanding Contributions to Venture Acceleration.
This award is designed to honor a center that creatively supports the process of accelerating startups through competitions, incubators or accelerators.
"This recognition from our peers in the Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Centers is a strong validation of the impact of the John E. and Alice L. Butler Venture Acceleration Program at Babson College," said Janet Strimaitis, Executive Director of the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babson College.
About the Butler Venture Accelerator Program At Babson College
There are many different pathways to entrepreneurship including starting a business, creating a venture in a family enterprise, buying a business, commercializing a technology, buying a franchise, or growing a non-profit.
The John E. and Alice L. Butler Venture Accelerator Program supports and advances this wide variety of entrepreneurial endeavors- from ideation to exit. To do this, we tailor support based on venture stage and type as well as entrepreneur experience and goals providing resources at three phases - exploring, pursuing, and launching/growing. Each phase has access to faculty advising; provides open lab space in which to collaborate, experiment, work, and also offers a range of services. An assessment survey is used to determine at what phase an entrepreneur enters the program and advances from one phase to the next.

About the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers
The Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC), formerly the National Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (NCEC), was founded in 1996. The intent of the organization is to provide a coordinated vehicle through which participating members can collaborate and communicate on the specific issues and challenges confronting university-based entrepreneurship centers.
The GCEC current membership totals 200+ university-based entrepreneurship centers ranging in age from well established and nationally ranked to new and emerging centers. Each year a global conference is held on the campus of a GCEC member school. The conference, which is held in October of each year, continues to be the major focal point for the organization.
