WESTMINSTER, Colo., Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Since the company's early days, Axion Health co-founder, Dr. Lee Newman, has always promoted a strong link between occupational health success and workplace wellness. Last year, Dr. Newman put action behind words when he co-founded Health Links, through the Center for Worker Health and Environment in the University of Colorado School of Public Health. The nonprofit initiative provides evidence-based Healthy Business Certification and advises Colorado companies on corporate wellness initiatives. Axion Health was one of the first companies to become certified.
Recently, Health Links certified its 100th company -- a milestone that is even more impressive considering Health Links was founded less than a year ago.
"Our goal is to help Colorado become the healthiest and safest state in which to work," said Dr. Lee Newman, Health Links co-founder and Axion Health CMIO. "Co-founder Liliana Tenney and the Health Links team are gratified to see the high level of business community engagement. Corporate social responsibility starts by creating a business culture that values the health, safety, and well-being of employees. Health Links has been embraced by Colorado business leaders as a way to measure, improve, and receive recognition for that commitment."
"Joining with Health Links was an easy decision for us, because Axion Health's entire vision and reason for being are centered on the idea that employee well-being is a critical component of healthy companies," commented Tom Carson, Axion Health CEO. "I am especially proud of the relationship we have with Dr. Newman and congratulate the Health Links team on achieving this milestone."
On August 28th, Health Links will host its 1st annual event celebrating Colorado's Healthiest Places to Work. Over 100 companies, non-profits and schools will be recognized for their leadership in offering evidence-based and sustainable wellness programs, many of them having become Certified Healthy Businesses.
