Axinn Adds Prominent Antitrust Attorney Peter Herrick to New York Office
NEW YORK, Nov. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Axinn is pleased to announce that Peter C. Herrick has joined its Antitrust Group as a partner in the firm's New York office, continuing the growth of the firm's antitrust practice.
Joining from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, Mr. Herrick has nearly 15 years of experience in antitrust litigation, counseling clients on competition issues, and government merger and conduct investigations. He has represented clients in both civil and criminal antitrust matters, including alleged price fixing and restraint of trade, advocating before the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice and the European Commission. Mr. Herrick also has helped secure clearance of multibillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Herrick's deep government investigation experience draws from his time at the FTC in the Bureau of Competition (2010 – 2014), where he served as a lead staff attorney in the Mergers IV Division, and later as Senior Trial Counsel. As lead staff attorney, he was instrumental in a number of FTC merger investigations relating to the healthcare industry, including Capella Healthcare/St. Joseph's Mercy Health System, Community Health System, Inc./Moses Taylor Health Care System, Geisinger Health System/Community Medical Center, and more. Mr. Herrick went on to oversee high-stakes investigations and litigations of proposed mergers in a wide range of industries, and acted as second chair in the FTC's victory in FTC et.al. v. St. Luke's Health System Inc. et al. He was also a main trial team member in the FTC's challenges of FTC v. Phoebe Putney Health System and FTC v. OSF Healthcare System.
"Peter's impressive mix of antitrust counseling, investigations and litigation experience will be invaluable to us, especially in the ever-changing competitive landscape," said John Harkrider, Co-Chair of the Antitrust Group and a founding partner at the firm. "The addition of Peter to our Antitrust team is the latest strategic hire as Axinn continues to add world-class talent in the antitrust space."
Mr. Herrick is Axinn's second partner-level antitrust hire this year. Tiffany Rider joined the firm's Washington, D.C. office in July from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates. The additions continue the firm's tradition of hiring lawyers from elite law firms and key government agencies.
"I couldn't be happier to join Axinn's renowned Antitrust Group," Mr. Herrick said. "Their reputation in the field and the caliber of their work speaks for itself, and I very much look forward to being a part of this team."
