Axeda Announces Support of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation
Portion of Proceeds from Connexion 2014 Earmarked to Provide Financial and Emotional Relief for Families and Patients Battling Cancer
FOXBORO, Mass., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Axeda Corporation, the leading cloud-based service and software for connecting, building and managing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, today announced its support of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF), a Massachusetts-based nonprofit 5019(c)(3) organization dedicated to alleviating cancer's financial and emotional burdens on patients, as well as funding critical pediatric brain cancer research. Founded by former New England Patriots offensive guard Joe Andruzzi and his wife Jen, the Foundation grew out of Mr. Andruzzi's own successful cancer battle and the couple's ongoing work with young cancer patients. To date, more than 1,000 patients and families have been assisted by JAF and more than $500,000 has been raised by the Foundation in support of Dr. Mark Kieran's pediatric brain cancer research at Boston Children's Hospital.
Axeda will hold its annual customer and IoT industry conference, Connexion, in Boston's Innovation District on May 5-8, 2014, and a portion of all Connexion event proceeds will be donated to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. Joe Andruzzi will also join the Connexion keynote speaker lineup which includes AT&T, GE, Intel, Salesforce and Wipro.
Hundreds of companies, including eight of the top 10 medical device manufacturers in the world, use Axeda's products and services to turn machine data into useful information, build and run innovative IoT applications and optimize business processes by integrating machine data with business systems. Leaders in medical device manufacturing are pushing for transformation within their delivery models, and with IoT programs they are able to strategically consider how data from medical devices can impact positive outcomes by dramatically improving quality, cost effectiveness and efficiency of care. By harnessing machine data, medical device manufacturers are able to increase value to hospitals and care to patients by creating actionable insight, improved outcomes and reduced time to value.
"On behalf of all the employees at Axeda, I am very pleased to announce our support of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation and their work helping patients and families tackling cancer, and their funding of clinical research," said Todd DeSisto, Axeda CEO. "Joe exemplifies the spirit of giving, and is a Boston champion both on-and-off the field. It is very fitting that a portion of the funds from our customer event are applied to his Foundation and the work they do to support families in need, and the rapidly evolving area of cancer research and treatment."
"The Joe Andruzzi Foundation's mission is centered on providing upbeat positivity, and one such way to carry this forward is through philanthropy, which is major force to improve, touch and empower patients and families facing cancer, one of the biggest challenges of their lives," said Joe Andruzzi, Founder of JAF. "We share Axeda's passion to improve the future of patient care and to make a difference, and I look forward to joining Connexion 2014 and meeting with leaders in healthcare who are transforming their delivery models with connected medical device programs to drive forward change."
